Character Towns of Central Florida: Report #3, A Survey of Main Streets

“Character Towns” of Central Florida: Report #3, A Survey of Main Streets reports the preliminary results of what has become the Character Town Workshop Analytical Series. Central Florida has been favored with many small cities and towns of character. Most were established at the turn of the last century when Henry Plant brought his railroad from Jacksonville to Tampa. Main streets were established, a 2-3 story building stock was created, and mostly has survived. The main streets in the ten established towns surveyed have many similarities; most of which have been mimicked in the three new towns in the Orlando Region. The lessons for all small cities and towns can be useful as redevelopment, reinvestment and infill development happens.[embeddoc url=”https://www.charactertowns.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Survey-of-Character-Downtowns-6.28.16.pdf” width=”100%” download=”all” viewer=”google”]
